Several NBA fans interrupted a moment of silence for Alex Pretti during the Minnesota Timberwolvesโ game against the Golden State Warriors, chanting anti-ICE slogans only seconds after the tribute began.Pretti, a 37-year-old ICU nurse, was fatally shot by a federal immigration agent in Minneapolis, sparking widespread protests across Minnesota. Witnesses say Pretti was sprayed with pepper spray after approaching agents who had shoved another bystander to the ground. Videos circulating online show Pretti attempting to help that person before multiple agents restrained him. Moments later, one agent fired multiple shots, killing him.
Federal officials have claimed Pretti posed a violent threat and approached officers armed with a handgun. However, video evidence reviewed by several news outlets appears to contradict parts of that account. Former police trainer John Cohen told ABC News there is nothing in the footage suggesting Pretti intended to harm officers. While a handgun was reportedly recovered from his waistband, videos show Pretti holding his phone as he approached agents.
